I think that the men are born because the humans can't be manufactured. These days however there are several methods invented in medical science with which doctors can make huge changes in a man's body. But the fact can't be ignored that the people who go through these kind of changes in their life are mostly lacking something in their lives and can't enjoy it like the other ordinary men. These kind of changes also determine the power and the position of a person in the society. The men who are born and not made means don't go thruogh any physical changes tend to have a satisfied and a happy life and hold a strong position in the society as compared to those who go through these changes. The creation of nature is only concidered to be perfect not humans. So i would say the men are born and not made.

Your choice of words is very interesting- manufactured men. Aren't we all manufactured to a certain extent? But I wonder is it really a fact that men who must undergo corrective surgery in order to possess socially acceptable male accoutrements, as Fausto-Sterling points out there are instances of accidents during circumcisions as well as natural 'malformations', "lack something in their lives"? The point you make about 'power and position' in society is very interesting. Do boys who are made into girls after birth lose much more than a male member?
ReplyDeleteI fully support Bushra's argument that men are born, not made. However, if Joe, for example is born with a phallus which is less than 0.5 inches long and a doctor changes his genital into an artificial clitoris, Joe becomes Joan because he is "recreated." Your comment that the changes they go through determine their power and position and that they are not as happy as the natural born is not true. Happiness I think is a state of the mind. If people who go through changes are content with their lives, they will lead normal happy lives.
ReplyDeleteI agree to Bushra's comment because men are born, not made. However, men can also be made by their own decision whether they want to be a girl or boy. Also i understand what is she trying to say but also men are born and made either way.
